Star Wars Bento; sort of Halloween themed (orange Darth Vader) and girly themed (pretty pomegranate flower!) He’s kind of a nod to my kindergartener’s pink-tutu-princess-Darth-Vader costume this Halloween. Helmet is sandwich with orange soy sheet on top drawn on with food markers; eyes are nori; marshmallow stormtrooper with food marker face and blueberry “space” background with star sprinkles.

Pumpkin Patch bento 🙂 “Pumpkin” sandwiches are sandwich cupcakes  made with bread and PB&J and drawn on with orange food marker; the stems are pretzels and the curlicues are laffy taffy. In addition to the pumpkins, she also had some pirate booty, raisins, a banana and a yogurt in her lunch.

Vampire Bats! Sandwich bat is PB&J with candy eyes and a fruit leather mouth with marshmallow teeth; grape bat is red grape with red grape wings (cut into wing shapes) and tooth picked on; behind the red grape is a green grape background; the stars are marshmallows.

A simple moon bento 🙂 PB& Jam (as usual) with an M&M eye; blueberries and star-shaped marshmallows as sides.

I’d like to note that these bento lunches are not all my 5 year old has in her lunchbox, they are merely the decorative part of the lunch. It varies by day, but today she also had an applesauce pouch, yogurt, a banana and goldfish crackers. She’s a growing girl!

Save the Muppets Bento 🙂  Chef (face and hand) is PB& Jam (was supposed to be turkey sandwich but there is no turkey to be found in my fridge), with a mozzarella cheese hat, and a spice drop nose. The contrasting mustache and eyebrows are bread crust and his sleeve is a marshmallow. The chicks are hard-boiled eggs with carrot beaks and black sprinkles for eyes.

Yes, I realize that the Swedish Chef is not a Sesame Street character, and to my knowledge, has not appeared on PBS. But all the Muppets support each other and so here’s my tribute! Also, I had a chicken/chick theme planned for today so I wanted to adjust my theme to my political (?) message.
